Australia's first European artists were convicts and they depicted the local fauna, flora, topography, bank notes, public buildings. This book discusses the lives and works of 19 of these artists and reproduces many of their works for the first time.

1977. First edition. A very good copy only marked by light rubbing of the spine ends and base of the boards, very light spotting on the top edge and a sticker on the front free endpaper. The d/w  is also very good with a few short, repaired edge tears.
